Club Permits

Summary of Club Permit Scheme Rules

  • This summary will refer only to the rules for motorcycles.
  • There are 3 categories of vehicles when it comes to the Club Permit Scheme.

Motorcycles manufactured on or before 31st December 1948.

Require a safety inspection by the club scrutineer or a current roadworthy certificate.

Proof of ownership must also be produced. This can be provided in the form of an original receipt or contract of sale. The document must show the VIN or chassis number; engine number; name, address and signature of previous owner; name and address of the new owner and date of the transaction.

The club scrutineer must also provide a  Vehicle Eligibility and Standards Declaration form declaring that the vehicle is eligible, safe for use on the road and that it meets the applicable requirements for the category of vehicle for which the club permit is sought. 

Motorcycles manufactured between 1st January 1949 and 30th June 1975.

Require  a current roadworthy certificate.

Proof of ownership must also be produced. This can be provided in the form of an original receipt or contract of sale. The document must show the VIN or chassis number; engine number; name, address and signature of previous owner; name and address of the new owner and date of the transaction.

The club scrutineer must also provide a  Vehicle Eligibility and Standards Declaration form declaring that the vehicle is eligible, safe for use on the road and that it meets the applicable requirements for the category of vehicle for which the club permit is sought. 

Motorcycles Manufactured after June 30th 1975 and at lease 25 years old.

Require  a current roadworthy certificate.

Proof of ownership must also be produced. This can be provided in the form of an original receipt or contract of sale. The document must show the VIN or chassis number; engine number; name, address and signature of previous owner; name and address of the new owner and date of the transaction.

The club scrutineer must also provide a  Vehicle Eligibility and Standards Declaration form declaring that the vehicle is eligible, safe for use on the road and that it meets the applicable requirements for the category of vehicle for which the club permit is sought. 

If the motorcycle is manufactured outside Australia, Proof of previous registration in Australia must be provided. This could be old registration papers or Registration label of previous registration number.
